To avoid possibility of confusion because of the similarity in the sound of many pairs of letters, International Civil Aviation Organization adopted a standard system for each letter.

• I: INDIA
• J: JULIET

• Q: QUEBEC
• R: ROMEO
• S: SIERRA
• T: TANGO
• U: UNIFORM
• V: VICTOR
• W: WHISKY
• X: X-RAY
• Y: YANKEE
• Z: ZULU
Numbers are spoken normally expect that “3” is pronounced “tree”, “5” is
pronounced “fife” and”9” is pronounced “niner”. The number”0” is always said as “Zero".
